What to Consider when Purchasing a New Hvac

What to Consider when Purchasing a New Hvac
  • PublishedSeptember 28, 2022

Purchasing a new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system can be overwhelming. With so many HVAC products available, it adds a lot of pressure and confusion about which system will suit their needs best. Before deciding on an HVAC system, it’s essential to take into account what works best for one’s needs. Here are a few things to consider when replacing or purchasing an HVAC system:

Small HVACs Work for Every Space

Smaller than the average system, SDHV units are designed to fit in small spaces and snake in and out of existing cavities without having to gut out the room for the job. This makes them perfect for multi-tenant buildings or if one is planning on renovating an older home since they require lesser work & effort.

Go for A Quieter HVAC

HVAC systems with smaller ducts tend to be ‘whisper quiet’ because the insulated supply tubing works incredibly well as a sound absorbing mechanism. The tube’s core is made with a material called nylon, which is then insulated to absorb sound and finally covered with a vapor barrier to resist moisture diffusion and reduce thermal loss. The supply tubes are often called sound attenuators or duct silencers because they deaden sound.  Air handlers are also insulated and use pads to minimize vibration and sound further.

Conserve Energy

The flexible insulated nylon supply tubing of small-duct systems makes them more energy-efficient than traditional forced air systems. Small-duct systems work with Unico Inverter technology to conserve energy by using only as much power as is needed at that moment; when there’s not much humidity in the air, they run at only 10% capacity, while traditional systems run at 100%. This allows homeowners to set their thermostats lower on hot, humid days without sacrificing comfort.

In addition to being inefficient and noisy, traditional ducts are also prone to leaking. Since they’re typically located in unconditioned areas, like attics or basements, leaked air is wasted in places where it provides no benefit to homeowners. It’s wise to be open to newer technologies & options while making a decision as big as purchasing an HVAC system.
